Plants... they really are people

When I was first hired at my office, we had a few people who were in the process of leaving. As a result, I was given a rather large potted plant that now sits in my office by one of the windows. I named him Ted, because, well, I just felt like it.

This potted plant has been killed and revived many times of which I don't know how it survived. I was loaned out to a company for the Masters in April and the poor thing didn't get a lot of water (except for when Pamela watered it), and then again when I went out of town at the end of April, it again didn't get a lot of water.

Not only has this plucky plant continued to thrive in what I can only define as an abusive relationship, but it has gotten BIGGER. That's right, apparently it thrives on the hate because this thing was not this size when I first got it.

That says something though, doesn't it? Resilience isn't something that we just have, you gotta learn and earn it! With our lives being insane cluster phracks, you have to remember that sometimes you aren't going to get a whole lot of water in the heat of the day when you desperately need it. But, just before the sun wears your body to its last breath, in reach is that for which you thirst!

Maybe, just maybe, we should all be like this poor abused plant that will at some point, I'm convinced, grow legs and consume me whole. He's a symbol of stoic resilience that cannot be broken no matter how long he goes without sustenance.
