Being in one of the southern states we often have severe weather. Well, yesterday was one of those days.
Let me paint you a picture. Weather reporters were saying all day to "beware of severe storms" just destined to hit the metro Atlanta area later in the afternoon. Basically the normal gloom and doom.
Mmmmhhhmmmm.
It was about 7:30 p.m. when it rolled through the northerly part of the metro area and *I* was on my way home from taking care of the horses.
Sitting at a traffic light about a mile from my home, I can see the storm rolling in from behind me. There was a slight greenish/blue hue on the clouds, which for anyone who has lived in the south long enough knows that's a sign of a potentially tornadic storm.
Before my light turns green the heavens open and rain is poured out onto everyone within a 2 mile radius. I, of course, am so close to home that I just want to get there. Pulling onto the road that I live off of, I'm about 2,000 feet from my neighborhood and my windshield wipers STOP WORKING.
Imagine a great downpour, one that would rival Noah's flood, and with windshield wipers on you cannot see 10 feet in front of you. People are driving with their hazards on and going slow (rightfully so) its just terrible.
Now, take away your windshield wipers for a moment. Scary thought isn't it?
Well, I manage to pull off in a vacant lot but I'm SSOOO close to my house. If it wasn't raining so hard I could see the entrance to my neighborhood. So I get back on the road, roll down my window and stick my head outside in pouring rain just to see where I am so I don't hit a mailbox or an oncoming car!
I got myself home, but not before I was drenched in potential acid rain (isn't that the new thing now?).
Yeah, that was my evening. Oh and FYI -- Tornado was a mile from my house.
