We've all seen it at one point or another, and I'm not going to be graphic, but it isn't a pleasant thing on many levels. My first question would be, why did you think not putting your dog in a cage or at least tying the leash to the bed of the truck where the dog had to lay down the whole time wasn't a plausible plan?
I understand things like this are accidents, but you know behind it was someone going "aaww shoot, that dog ain't never jumped out the truck before, he ain't gonna do it now." That's the same kind logic that is used when a man gets a deep cut and uses super glue instead of going to the doctor for stitches.
What's even more sad is that the dog will be left there on the highway until the county comes out. What kind of burial is that?
It's just heart breaking that people are more worried about the inside of their vehicles than the life of a pet. Its like 50 bucks to buy a crate for a dog that size, and if you put him/her in it then you'd still have a puppy for your kids to play with; to be a companion; to love you when you feel like no one else does.
R.I.P to all the doggies who have jumped out of the back of trucks because their owners are too self involved to keep them safe.

Moral of this story: Think first, please. The lives of people and animals depend on it.
