The fable of the hawk and the crow

Driving to work this morning, I noticed a crow dive bombing the top of a light post. I leaned forward and saw a hawk sitting atop the post just brushing off the crows fruitless attempts to knock it down. Since I was sitting on the highway not going anywhere, I had the time to watch the exchange. The crow never once rested, but continuously flew down at the hawk, in which the hawks response was just to duck. Only when the hawk was ready did he make the move to fly down into some nearby trees.

By this time traffic began to move and I had an epiphany of sorts. Now bear with me as I'm going to make this a more serious post.

When life starts dive bombing you while you sit teetering over the edge of a new decision, stress or anything causing pressure in your world, be like the hawk. Brush off the attempts to knock you down from your place of perspective and don't make a move until you know it's the right time. I personally say a prayer and wait so as not to step out before I'm ready to make that leap of faith.

Life will always do something to ruin your day and try to bring you down from your happiness. Don't let it. If you are waiting for someone else to make you happy, you will be waiting for a long time. You should make the choice to be happy, even if you don't feel like you can that day. It may bring the right opportunity at the right time simply because you chose to be in a better mood than everyone else. Say a prayer and take the plunge!

It's easy to be grumpy and upset all the time. And don't get me wrong, there are days we need to vent. But once you vent, let go of the problem and move on; especially if you have no control over the situation. I'm not saying this is an easy thing to do, because it isn't, but as you make a conscious effort it will become easier and easier. Make the best of what you have and only then will you have the opportunity to move on the something new.
