Depression and how to beat it... well, sort of

So with the world news looking so grim and the constant negativity that surrounds us daily, it's hard to keep your head on straight. I know that yesterday I got very depressed about some current events, because so much stuff hurts my heart. We do what we can to change our world, but sometimes our reach isn't national or international. What can we do to lift our own spirits? I've come up with five things, which are in no particular order!

5.) Buy a bouquet of flowers for someone, or yourself! I know it sounds silly but the happiness you can feel from buying flowers is actually kind of awesome.

4.) Listen to your favorite upbeat song really loud while driving and sing along with your windows down! I've done it, and it's also AWESOME.

3.) Eat an ice cream cone with someone you love! Double scoop waffle cone if you want to get super specific!

2.) Give a toddler a High Five! It sounds silly, but if you've never done it before it will make you smile for the rest of the day.

1.) Go to a pet store! Okay, not everyone is an animal person but I am a HUGE animal person and if you take me to a pet store two things will happen. 1.) I will love you forever and 2.) I will cry if you don't buy me a puppy! True story. BUT, playing with animals is without question, AWESOME!

So, the moral of the story is: even if life get's you down, you have to think of the little things that make you happy and run with them! There will always be bad in the world so make sure you are contributing to the good!
