We've all seen it. Someone's car has broken down in the middle of a multi-lane highway and you are stuck in the traffic of if all.
That has happened to me on multiple occasions, and I saw a meme today that made me think (watch out, I'm thinkin'!).
One day I was driving home from work, a grueling 35 mile drive one way from the heart of Atlanta going north. I drive three major highways to get home, the first of which is I-85. If you've ever driven it, you know that it is 6 lanes and very busy during rush hour. So naturally when someone's car just kind of stops working while on this highway, it causes a jam.
That day, it happened. A poor woman in a late 90s to early 2000s model small SUV had the most panicked look on her face as I slowly crept past her in my car. My poor bleeding heart pulls off the the side of the road, crosses in to the VERY MIDDLE lane and I ask her what's going on. She proceeds to tell me, and to this day I don't remember what happened that made her car stop, but it didn't matter.
Think about this, I am a 130 pound 5'5"ish girl with a bad attitude and determination that would make Stevie Wonder say "Watch out for this one."
I tell her to put it in neutral and I'm gonna push her. That's right, I got behind that little SUV and I started pushing it across the highway, traffic be damned!
Now, I don't have to tell you how dangerous this is, because without emergency vehicles to halt traffic it is hard to get them to kind of ya know STOP.
Luckily as I pushed her a guy driving a truck with a trailer attached blocked two lanes so I could go across and get her to the side of the road safely. Don't tell me God doesn't watch my back.
So why did I do it? The better question is why doesn't everyone do this? Do I need to have a reason to justify my actions? Nope. I would only hope that the kindness I have shown to people in their time of need would be shown to me by someone else when I need it most. You reap what you sow in this life.
