Mama said I can't be a stand-up comedian...

It isn't a secret that I enjoy ironical humor, as you can tell by my many blog posts. However, growing up I always thought I was funny, and well I wasn't and still sometimes question my comedic timing.

That being said, I told my mom one day many moons ago that I wanted to be a stand-up comedian. After all, mom always told me "You can be anything you want" and I believed her, but OH how I was a fool. She said that it wasn't a good idea and I proceeded to remind her the "be what you want" hymn I heard throughout my life and she said something along the lines of "you're right, but I should be more specific. You can be anything you want as long as it isn't a stand up comedian." And just like that my hopes were dashed.

I never really thought I would be a stand-up comic. It's not really for me, and these days to be funny you have to be kind of disgusting which isn't exactly what I want to do. So, instead I will delight in the ironical humor that is every day life and hope for the perfect moment I can insert witty words into a conversation.

Here is my encouragement to all of you, be whatever you want in life! But recognize that if you truly suck at something, try to be something else!

Enjoy your weekend!
